The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg is launching a pilot program as part of Start-up BW, specifically aimed at companies from Baden-Württemberg to support them in concrete innovation or transformation challenges.
The aim of the program is to enable SMEs from Baden-Württemberg to have structured and practical access to market-ready start-up solutions – without lengthy preliminary processes or the establishment of their own innovation structures.
What does the program offer?
Participating companies will receive support in this process:
- to identify specific innovation and transformation needs,
- to get to know suitable start-ups with market-ready solutions,
- to jointly implement pilot projects with the start-ups (proof of concepts),
- and simultaneously build up expertise in dealing with start-up collaborations
(e.g., evaluation of solutions, pilot setup, and legal and organizational foundations)

To get acquainted with and begin the program, interested companies are invited to a free webinar on the topic of venture clienting. Venture clienting describes a model in which an established company becomes a client of a startup.
The startup provides the company with an innovative product or service in a pilot project, allowing the solution to be tested and used directly within the company. The startup benefits from valuable feedback and market validation, while the company gains early access to technologies and significantly lower financial risk compared to direct investments.
In the webinar:
- You will receive a practical introduction to venture clienting,
- Learn how to evaluate start-up solutions,
- Learn about the opportunities that pilot projects with start-ups offer,
- and what legal and organizational framework conditions are relevant.
The goal is:
- to create a common basic understanding for start-up collaborations,
- to identify initial own needs and areas of application,
- and to provide transparent information about the program's process, participation requirements and framework conditions.

Based on this phase, companies can then register for the pilot program. Depending on the size of the company, their own contribution will then range between €5.000 and €15.000.
